近年來，在經濟快速發展的同時，對於自然環境也產生了難以彌補的傷害，隨著環境問題日益受到重視，與世代正義有關議題的討論也逐日增多，世代正義著重不同世代之間的公平，當代除了要為後代保留生存的空間和條件外，亦不能增加過多的負擔給後代，雖然世代正義議題受到世人關注，然而卻不是一件容易達成的事情，畢竟未來世代太遙遠，對於各國政府來說，顧好當前世代比未來世代重要的多，那麼在何種情況下，世代正義比較有可能被達成呢？筆者認為惟有當一個國家越注重當代的平等，才更有可能去注重跨世代的平等，因此，本文提出假設：當代國家平等表現越好，世代正義上表現也會越好。
    本文以歐盟及經濟合作暨發展組織（OECD）等41國作為研究對象，使用貝塔斯曼基金會（Bertelsmann Stiftung）所建構的世代正義指數作為依變數，以多元民主資料庫（Varieties of Democracy，V-Dem）中的平等民主指數作為自變數，使用PCSE模型進行分析，來探討平等與世代正義之間的關係，最後研究結果表明，平等民主指數與世代正義指數具有顯著的正相關，即當國家在平等面向表現越好，在世代正義上表現也會越好，符合本文的假設。

In recent years, the rapid economic development has been accompanied by irreparable damage to the natural environment. As environmental issues have received increasing attention, discussions on issues related to intergenerational justice are also on the rise. In addition to preserving the living space and conditions for future generations, the present generation should not add too much burden to future ones. Despite the fact that the issue of intergenerational justice is of great concern to the world, it is not an easy task to achieve. After all, for all governments, taking care of the current generation is more important than that of the future generation. Under what circumstances is intergenerational justice more likely to be achieved? The author believes that the more a country focuses on contemporary equality, the more likely it is to focus on intergenerational equality. Therefore, this paper proposes the hypothesis that the better a country performs in terms of equality in the present, the better it will perform in terms of intergenerational justice.
     In this paper, 41 countries in the EU and OECD were used as study subjects. To investigate the relationship between equality and intergenerational justice, we used the Bertelsmann Stiftung's intergenerational justice index as the dependent variable, the Egalitarian democracy index in V-Dem as the independent variable, and applied the Panel Corrected Standard Errors (PCSE) to conduct the analysis. The results show that the egalitarian democracy index has a significant positive correlation with the generational justice index. That is, the better the country performs in equality, the better it will perform in generational justice, which is consistent with the hypothesis of this paper.
