Since 2018,the self-driving car industry has experienced rapid growth, driven by a confluence of factors including technological advancements, declining birth rates, an aging population, and the COVID-19 pandemic, eta. Major corporations like Walmart have begun utilizing self-driving vehicles in logistics to enhance efficiency and reduce labor costs. Consumer requirement for self-driving cars is also increasing. Price, technological maturity, and safety are three key factors influencing consumer purchase decisions. Many companies are actively involved in self-driving car development, such as Microsoft’s collaboration with Cruise and Amazon’s application in logistics. Governments worldwide are also actively developing regulations to govern the development and application of self-driving cars. However, the number of self-driving cars in the Taiwanese market remains relatively low. This research aims to understand the current state of self-driving car development globally and the factors influencing consumer purchasing behavior in Taiwan, providing recommendations for self-driving car industry dealers. This research employs multiple research methods for a comprehensive exploration of the self-driving car issue: (1) literature analysis, (2) case study analysis, (3) SWOT and Five Forces Analysis, and (4) questionnaire surveys. The research findings will provide a reference for government policymaking on self-driving cars, vehicle manufacturers developing self-driving car products, and the development of related industries. This research hopes to provide valuable suggestions for the development of Taiwan’s automotive industry and enhance its global competitiveness. |
