Globalization has become a significant trend and business strategy in many organizations. By distributing resources and personel in various geographic locations, organizations can enhance profitibility by taking advantage of varying social, economic, political, and investment conditions.

For this strategy to be successful, organizations rely on their Information Technology (IT) resources to integrate and harmonize the wide variety of ideas, needs, and challenges presented by globalizing an organization.

The purpose of this paper is to: (1.) analyse the challenges and difficulties present in information systems when the stakeholders are located in various locations around the world; (2.) investigate and disuss potential risks and difficulties in overseas development projects by the comparison of Eastern and Western cultural influences; (3.) apply case study methodology to two real cases from one global software development company, and ilustrate the case details with process, timeline, and case statements;( 4.) highlight a new method of calculating the communication effort in a globally distributed team[10], and define the value and effectiveness of this improved method.
