本文建構一個內生成長模型，討論生育率、社會地位和經濟成長之關係，並延續Yip and Zhang(1997)的精神，並採用Barro and Sala-i-Martin(2004)中養育小孩的成本假設，以資源消耗來刻畫；而社會地位則是採用W.Chang et al(2000)的設定。經由模型推導得到，民眾對社會地位重視的程度對於經濟成長率的影響呈現正向關係，同時當人們欲重視或追求其社會地位會對生育率及休閒時間產生不利的影響。此外，當生育率上升時會使的養育成本上升而阻礙資本的累積和經濟成長，使得生育率與經濟成長率呈現負向關係。

We discuss the relationships among fertility, social status, and economic growth in an endogenous growth model which extends Yip and Zhang (1997) .The cost of raising children and  social status are followed by the settings of Barro and Sala-i-Martin(2004) and Chang et al (2000), respectively. The main finding of this paper is that the degree of public attention to the social status has a positive relationship with the economic growth rate, and that when people want to pursue their social status will have a negative impact on fertility and leisure time. In addition, when the fertility rate increases, it highers the raising cost and hinders the accumulation of capital and economic growth.
