This project is based on the international academic collaboration of Tamkang University and Queensland University of Technology. In 12 week designing and discussing process, this creative project aims to help designer to go deep into their creating itinerary through actual design and personal reflection.

This creative project, “Wandering in 4101”, strives to understand the local culture in my oversea studying period. From the aspect of being a foreigner, international student, traveler and even till truly enjoy the transformation of the attitude from isolation to embracing the local culture.

This project argued that tourism could be penetrated through a deeper meaning. Tourism cannot only be the memories of visitors; it can also be tools to help the local residents to understand their own cultural stories.

This project takes advantage of West End, where is a unique suburb in Brisbane, Queensland. 4101 is the official postal code, and as the name implied, this project hope the users can explore the specialty of the special suburb through their feet. Places are like people. Both of them have personality. West End has the ample history of immigration, and it makes the place like an isolated island. The project uses the island as a metaphor inspiration to memorize the revolution process through local stories. The final outcome is the tourism application by the help of the augmented reality and location-based service to make the city alive.
