This dissertation paper aimed at discussing the analysis of characters in Lin Haiyin’s novels. After gaining an insight into Lin’s creation and research profile, along with a suitable research method, we shall probe into the in-depth text content.
Based on the literacy ideas Lin has received, the characters in her novels were contemplated and analyzed. And supported by the literacy theories, the problems that arose from the characters in Lin’s novels were further expounded, hoping to contribute to the in-depth study of Lin’s works.
The research contents of the chapters are briefly introduced below. The full-text contains six chapters as follows:
Chapter 1 Introduction：This chapter covers an overview of
the study of Lin’s novels, the research
motives, research review, and thesis framework.
Chapter 2 Author’s background and creations：This chapter
covers a summary of Lin’s family background,
upbringing, education, beginning of literature
creation, cultural management experience,
relationship with children’s literature,
old age, and death.
Chapter 3 Novel character design：This chapter probes into
the experience, mental state, and observations
of the characters including issues such as local
attachment, women’s situation, and marginal
Chapter 4 Analysis of the characters’ relationship with
the times：The characters are classified based
on the themes they represent. The themes
include: the subject of orphans, marital
problems, women’s situation, compassion, love
in the world, and so on.
Chapter5 Contrast presented by the novel characters：
This chapter covers descriptions of the
Characters’ source and status, the characters’
relationships, the origin of the character
contrasts, the image of the novel characters,
and so on.
Chapter 6 Conclusion：This chapter sums up Lin’s
accomplishments in literature.
